Lessons for Leaders from David #196
1 Sam 21. Some moral character of Bible personalities, such as Daniel’s and Jesus’, are completely good. We can follow the whole example. Others are almost all bad such as Judas Iscariot, so we reject the entirety. Most, however, are a mixture. We must select and duplicate the good as well as reject and flee from the bad.
In the story of David, we will follow David’s example and flee to the sanctuary of God, but we will not follow his example and lie when we get there. That good and bad behavior is so mixed in this narrative is in itself a lesson for us to always be seeking to separate behaviors we want to avoid from those we want to duplicate.
